Noise

Split-system air conditioners are generally pretty quiet but some models are loud enough to disrupt sleep or cause neighbours to complain.

If you can, test out the noise levels in store or read user reviews before deciding.

Size

There are some large differences in size of the outdoor components.

For those living in apartments you may need to check available space and if there are any restrictions on air conditioners or strata rules.

Fan Speeds

An AC with multiple fan speeds and a large airflow range will help cool down your room quickly when needed and can also keep the fan low once the room is the right temperature.

A wider range of fan speeds will also help reduce noise on low settings.

Demand response enabling device (DRED)

If your AC model comes with DRED (also known as PeakSmart) and your energy provider uses the PeakSmart service, you can automatically switch to economy mode during peak energy periods. This reduces your power usage and saves you money.

Ease of Operation

Simplicity or advanced features?

Current models can be connected to your Wi-Fi so your AC can be controlled from a smartphone.

Others may prefer simpler controls. Some manufacturers have mastered the user interface better than others.

Best to check interfaces, controllers and button sizes.

Energy Saving Features

An aircon that can automatically sense when you're in the room and can lower the AC when you're out could be a big energy saver.

An auto mode and an energy-saver mode can help you save money on heating energy by ensuring the air conditioner is only on when you need it to be.

Air Treatment

Consider air filters that can remove odours, mould, dust, allergens, germs and smoke from the air. For those with asthma or allergies, it may be best to pick a HEPA filter.

Professional Installation

Certified aircon installation for Brisbane and the Gold Coast

Certified for electrical & gas

Our installers are fully licensed and accredited. A refrigeration mechanic installs air conditioning and an electrician is required to wire it. We are certified for both parts of the installation.

Gas Capture

Air conditioners contain ozone depleting gases. Not only can these gases harm the environment, but the loss of gas during installation also affects the proper running and efficiency of your unit.

We ensure the old gas is captured successfully and disposed of properly. New gas goes safely into your unit.

Disposal of old unit

We remove and safely dispose of (or recycle) your old components, making sure all the gas has been reclaimed.

We pick up and remove any rubbish left behind from the installation of your new air conditioning system.

Fitting and plumbing

Installing a split system air con requires a range of trade skills and specialised tools.

Fitting plates, drilling through walls, running pipes, sealing gas pipe junctions, connecting electrics, establishing condenser foundations, securing anchor bolts, charging and bleeding the system, sealing installation holes are all part of the installation process.
